Tujhya Aaila: Sujay Dahake Marathi Film to Release on September 25, 2026

National Film Award-winning director Sujay S. Dahake, known for exploring unconventional subjects and thought-provoking stories, is set to bring his latest Marathi film, 'Tujhya Aaila, to audiences. The film is scheduled to release in theatres across Maharashtra on September 25, 2026.

The Tujhya Aaila teaser, unveiled by actress Amruta Khanvilkar in August 2026, has generated curiosity among Marathi cinema audiences with its raw portrayal of childhood, rural life and the language associated with that environment.

What is Tujhya Aaila about?

Sujay S. Dahake, known for films such as Shala, Ajoba, Phuntroo and Shyamchi Aai, has chosen an unconventional subject for his latest film. Tujhya Aaila explores how casually used abusive words can affect a person’s mind and emotions.

The story is set against the backdrop of a school in rural Maharashtra. A 12-year-old urban boy moves to a village after his father is transferred. After joining a local school, he encounters the casual use of swear words among the children around him.

As he tries to adapt to his new surroundings, the story gradually explores larger questions surrounding language, violence, culture, caste and social attitudes.

Therefore, Tujhya Aaila is not simply a film about swear words. It examines the emotional and psychological impact that everyday language can have on people, while raising questions about whether words can themselves become a form of violence.

The inspiration behind Tujhya Aaila

The idea for the film reportedly took shape from an incident Dahake experienced while shooting Shala. An exchange involving abusive language stayed with the person on the receiving end for years, making Dahake reflect on how deeply words can hurt. That experience eventually became the inspiration for Tujhya Aaila.

Dahake has described verbal violence as a subject that has both fascinated and disturbed him. He has particularly questioned the casual use of abusive expressions involving relationships traditionally associated with love and respect.

Through Tujhya Aaila, the filmmaker aims to examine the power of words and the consequences they can have on individuals. The film also touches upon the changing nature of language and its misuse in the digital age.

Tujhya Aaila teaser and title poster

The teaser offers glimpses into childhood and rural Maharashtra, while also capturing the raw and nostalgic language of that environment. Its portrayal of childhood experiences is likely to resonate with audiences who may find echoes of their own memories in the film.

The film’s title and presentation are equally striking. The title poster, released in 2023, featured two children sitting beneath a tree, with various words carved into its trunk. The line, “Shivi Naay Khelacha Naav Haay Te” (“It’s not a swear word, it’s the name of a game”), hinted at the film’s central theme.

Tujhya Aaila cast

The film features Rajshri Deshpande, Rohini Hattangadi, Sambhaji Bhagat, Abhijit Thite, Soham Babar and Abhishek Zende in important roles. Several child actors are also part of the film.

Tujhya Aaila is being presented through a partnership involving Panorama Studios, Cult Digital and Prakash Films.

Tujhya Aaila will be released in theatres across Maharashtra on September 25, 2026.

With its unconventional title, rural setting and focus on verbal and psychological violence, Sujay S. Dahake’s film explores a subject that is rarely addressed directly on screen.

Ultimately, the film raises an important question: Are swear words merely words, or can they become a form of psychological violence? Audiences will find out when Tujhya Aaila arrives in theatres this September.
