Marking the occasion of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, the makers officially announced the film’s release date. The biopic is slated to hit theatres on October 1, 2026, and will be released in both Marathi and Hindi, aiming to reach a wider audience across India.
Actor Lalit Prabhakar will essay the role of Namdeo Dhasal, bringing to life one of India’s most influential and revolutionary literary voices. The recently released poster offers a striking glimpse of his transformation, showcasing a bold, intense, and rebellious persona that reflects Dhasal’s fiery spirit. His portrayal is expected to be one of the major highlights of the film.
The film is said to present a realistic portrayal of Namdeo Dhasal’s struggle-filled and fiery life journey. Written and directed by Varuna Rana, with dialogues by Pratap Gangawane, the movie will powerfully depict his fight against injustice, the revolution sparked through his poetry, and his hard-hitting ideas that challenged society.
Notably, the film features music by legendary South Indian composer Ilaiyaraaja, whose compositions are known for their depth and soul. The lyrics are penned by acclaimed writers Guru Thakur and Irshad Kamil, promising a soundtrack that complements the film’s powerful narrative.
The remarkable transformation of Lalit Prabhakar into Namdeo Dhasal has been crafted by renowned makeup artist Shrikant Desai. Sharing his experience, Desai emphasized that makeup goes beyond physical resemblance—it involves capturing the essence of a personality marked by rebellion, pain, and truth.
